This south Cotswold garden had a very tired, unused and unwanted feel about it. The owner, understandably, wanted a complete makeover based on a contemporary design that allowed the garden to be used in its entirety. It now has three separate areas in which the owner can relax and view the rest of her garden at different times of the day. The aesthetic use of materials was kept to a minimum: wood, resin bound gravel, limestone effect paving and silicon based render. Planting was kept to minimal maintenance and gave the garden a very Mediterranean feel. This was a truly delightful project with which to be involved !

A delightful Cotswold property, this project transformed an existing garden with awkward, unusable spaces and a very straight path leading to a back gate to four separate areas with a more fluid trajectory around the garden. It made use of the existing levels to enhance each of the new spaces and the features of the house. Photos credit: Lee Bishop (http://www.leebishopphotography.co.uk)

A secluded but overgrown garden with a central path dividing it and not much room for entertaining needed a re-design to make it more open, to increase the space for relaxing and to create improved movement around the garden. As the garden isn't at right angles to the house, utilising the space on the new patio needed some creative thinking hence the bespoke planters and water butt by Alec Jones (http://www.eleganceinironwork.co.uk)

The rear garden in this property felt unloved with an irregular and awkward paving design, overgrowing shrubs and a hemmed in feeling. The design has really changed the nature of the garden...much smoother lines, better flow through and around the garden, improved planting, good use of materials and a feeling that the garden has more space.

The makeover in this garden has been extraordinary. The introduction of curved lines and the choice of materials has introduced a flow through the garden in which every aspect is unique and truly pleasurable. Bespoke CorTen mild steel raised borders and seating together with the correct colour choice for resin bound gravel and a small water stone water feature have combined to maintain a visual unity. This was a great garden to see realised !
